Car dealer co signed for car loan then with 2 payments left he paid off the loan and took the car.?

he co signed then came and paid the remaining 2 payments and then took the car and the title from the bank. his name was not on the title or vehicle registration. only co signed the loan. called us back and said we could have the car back if we paid him 200 more dollars than the loan had left that he paid off. car is now nowhere to be seen, police won't do anything stating it's a civil matter. what can i do to get my car and what can be done, i need help badly.

It is a civil matter! Take him to Court. You should be able to get his name from the loan institution.But, even if you win in Court, it will be left up to you to collect.The Court does not do the collecting of the rewards.You may have to hire a Collection Agency.So it may be cheaper to pay him and get your car before he takes claim of it.

Have you contacted an attorney? Usually you can speak with one without cost to you. It is worth considering a pre-paid legal service as well. It comes in handy. From my understanding since his name is not on the title he is not entitled to the vehicle, and he is only entitled to the actual amount you owe him.
